An Approach to Portraits-Keith Potts.
On Tuesday 24th January, member Keith Potts delivered a wonderful presentation discussing portraiture. As always, Keith was able to reference many well known, and some lesser known artists, who have guided him in his passion for creating portraits. He demonstrated the proportions used - always a good guide to ensuring you are getting features 'in the right place'.
Following this very informative visual presentation, members were invited to take an active part by drawing a portrait of the member sitting next to them. Keith provided all the materials . It was delightful to use the tinted grey paper with sanguine, black and white pastels to create highlights and shadows on the face.
This was a very well attended session, and a large number of members participated in the practical activity- many thanks to Keith for sharing his extensive knowledge and encouraging us all to feel confident in making a simple portrait on the day.
