Keith at Raw Umber Studios, Stroud

In July one of our members Keith Potts joined a 3 day oil portrait painting course in Stroud, Gloucester.

The course was directed by Anastasia Pollard a classically trained artist. The challenge was to produce one portrait using the ZORN pallet limited to 5 colours.

The first day was spent creating a grisaille sketch using only raw umber paint. On days 2 and 3 the portrait was developed using the limited pallet of cadmium red, yellow ochre, ivory black and titanium white.

The spacious well lit Raw Umber Studio is run by professional artists with top class facilities and outstanding tutors. Highly recommended.
