Urban Sketching- Keith Potts.

On Tuesday 8th October, SAG was treated to another illustrative presentation from our very own Keith Potts. Keith shared his love of sketching outdoors, often in urban areas , aiming to capture a moment in time of the places he visits. An assortment of Keith's sketch books were passed around for members to see first hand what can be achieved in a sitting. Keith explained the challenges of sketching outdoors- which included how much to carry with you . A very basic kit of an A5 sketchbook and pens, developing to larger sketch books with a variety of drawing materials including a wonderfully compact watercolour set, which had a mixing tray and water bottle! Perfect for art 'on the hoof'!

Urban sketching is a popular art activity which you can easily do solo, or there are groups available locally ( Stoke and Lichfield) who welcome new members. Joining is free, you just turn up at the selected venue but have the company of other artists making it a sociable occasion as well.
