Dilapidated

27/04/2021

A delightful display of derelict, decrepit and dilapidated! We have seen vehicles, buildings, faces, garden equipment and a lot of sheds! As always, the stories that accompany each piece of art work is as interesting as the artwork itself . I am sure we all learn a little about techniques, materials, history and our own individual lives when we are...

Lovely to see so many members at St Mary church in Swynnerton today, and welcome to new member Hilary, so glad you could join us.

Music was the challenge for today, but everyone rose to the challenge! Despite it offering some very difficult drawing skills - angles, perspective, figures......the work was wonderful. Reflections

Hockney himself pioneered the creation of art work using his iPhone and iPad.

Today's challenge was a joint theme, where we had contributions of 'memories', 'Wales', and 'Memories of Wales'! Many of the pictures shown recalled enjoyable and sometimes dramatic memories of times spent in favourite places in Wales. Discussion included places , people and bits of history.

If you fancy a break from all things christmas... I can thoroughly recommend the Maurice Wade Exhibition which is currently at Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The temporary exhibition is showing a wide range of Wade's work spanning his painting years. He works in a very monochromatic style, creating the stark landscape of the potteries.

Our winter exhibition took place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November. Oddfellows was transformed into an Art Gallery of wonderful artworks displayed beautifully. The cafe was available for drinks and cakes at very affordable prices.

This evening, 8th November , we were treated to a presentation by local artist Steve Woodhams. Steve originates from Bloxwich and is soon to be the Chair at the Walsall Artists Group - a well established group of artists for over 70 years.
